Built by badminton players, for badminton clubs
ePegboard started with a simple frustration: picking fair, balanced games by hand is hard, and the person doing it rarely gets to play.
Every club night has someone at the desk juggling a whiteboard, a pile of pegs or a spreadsheet - trying to keep the courts full, the games balanced and everyone getting a fair turn. It is fiddly, it is thankless, and it is easy to get wrong. ePegboard exists to do that job better than any of us can do it by hand.
From a desktop tool to a platform
ePegboard grew out of a Windows desktop app that badminton clubs have relied on for years to run their sessions. It worked - clubs kept using it, week in, week out - but it was tied to one machine in one hall.
So we rebuilt it for the web. The same intelligent game-picking and rating engine, now running in any browser, on any device, with competitions, club management and league-team tools built in. New features land on the web app first, while clubs that need a fully offline option can still use the desktop version.
The rating engine is the heart of it
Underneath everything sits one rating system. It judges players on how they perform against expectation - not just who won - and updates after every game. That single, trustworthy number is what makes the picking fair, the handicap tournaments work, and the partnership and team-selection insights worth trusting. It is the part we care about most, and the part we keep quietly improving.
Who builds it
ePegboard is made by MBS Software Limited - a small team that plays club badminton and feels these problems first-hand. We see how sessions actually run, talk to the organisers using it, and ship improvements off the back of real club nights rather than guesswork.
It was founded by Michael Stoker, who built the original desktop app back in 2011 for the club night at Club MK in Milton Keynes, where he still plays - and he has been refining the picking and rating engine behind it ever since.
The things we will not compromise on
Fairness first
The point of ePegboard is balanced games and a fair share of court time for everyone present. If a change makes the games less fair, it does not ship.
Built from real club nights
We design around how sessions actually run - drop-ins, late changes, mixed abilities - and improve off the back of real feedback, not a spec on a whiteboard.
